Kabani Riverside
The Riverside Villa veranda hung with ferns, and the Attics raised among coffee and forest trees, at Kabani Riverside, Wayanad

Wayanad, Kerala

Escape to the wild.Stay by the Kabani.

Seven private farm stays surrounded by nature, where the river, forest and countryside become part of your stay.

First light over the Kabani river, seen from the farm terrace

The farm

Where the forest slows you down.

Two acres of coffee, pepper, nutmeg and areca run down to the banks of the Kabani. Seven stays are set into the land: a treehouse, two A-frames, a tiny home, a cabin, a loft on stilts and a villa with a pool. They are spaced far enough apart that you will rarely see another guest.

Across the road, three hundred acres of paddy fields are farmed collectively by the surrounding villages. Walk through them at first light. Come back for breakfast, cooked in the house — the thing guests write home about.

Mist rising through the canopy above the Kabani at dawn

Closer to nature.Farther from the noise.

No traffic, no corridor, no lobby. Birdsong at six, mist off the water until eight, and fireflies in the trees once it is properly dark.

Days here

Nothing you have to do.

A day on the farm runs from the river at first light to the fire after dark. Follow it as far as you like.

In their words

The part we can’t write ourselves.

“The treehouse itself is beautiful and unique. The hosts are extremely welcoming and kind. During our garden tour, uncle showed us fresh coffee, cardamom, nutmeg and many other spices growing on the trees, which was such a special experience. They even gave us fresh jackfruit from their garden and a few spices.”

Finding us

On the road, beside the river.

The farm sits by the road just outside Mananthavady, which makes it easy to reach and still puts the Kabani at the bottom of the garden. Wayanad is a whole district, not a single town — so the drive in is part of it.
